Notaries serve an essential purpose. Anytime you need to sign official paperwork, you’ll need a notary to officially notarize your document – which means they verify that you are who you say you are, and that you are signing the document willingly.

But each state is slightly different in how they qualify notaries – and what they can do for you. Here’s what you need to know about notary publics in the state of Idaho:

Once certified, notaries in Idaho are qualified to notarize important documents, including:

  • Marriage licenses
  • Passport applications
  • Loan applications
  • Real estate transactions

To obtain a notary stamp on a document in Idaho, you must show up to the notary public’s facility in person to prove your identity. You can do this with any government-issued identification, like a driver’s license or passport.

Once the notary has verified your identity, they’ll witness you signing the document. You’ll also need to confirm that you are signing the document freely and have not been coerced or threatened into signing it.

After you have signed the document, your notary public will affix their ink stamp to the document to prove its validity. They’ll also record the transaction in their ongoing ledger for their official records.

Once everything has been recorded, you’re good to go!
